Living Whole with Chronic Pain

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~May God Himself make you whole ~ SPIRIT SOUL BODY!~~~~~~
Kimberly Walker (& Donald)
KIMBERLY INVITES YOU TO JOIN HER! Take the "RELAX Challenge"!
Tension and stress increase pain. Period. Studies show that people who are actively involved in their pursuit of living a more WHOLE lifestyle experience longer times of relieved pain.
SO! What if you just took 5 minutes to 15 minutes 2-3 times a day to help yourself to relax and get results that could make life less painful and easier to live? Would you do it?
What if I told you that I have found TWO sources, one 5 minute video and one 15 minute audio, either of or both of which you could use to help you achieve WHOLE HEALTH?
In search of something we could do together I checked out all kinds of "RELAXATION" material. UGH!! After watching or listening to some of them I came away feeling I needed to spend some time with the Lord and be cleansed! :) They just seemed to involve a whole lot more than RELAXING!
But I am very happy to say I found 2 items that are very simple that I can recommend with a clear conscience :) One is from The American Chronic Pain Association's Pathways Through Pain five-minute relaxation exercise video involves nothing that is new age or blasphemies. And I believe it may can help us let go of physical stress and begin to reduce our sense of suffering.
The other takes a little longer, but I find it incredibly relaxing and the music is beautiful. It comes from a site called ShutEye.com It is actually a site for learning about INSOMNIA. But the "MUSCLE RELAXATION TECHNIQUES" audios are really great and I would be amiss not to mention them while looking at ways to RELAX. (I'm gonna use this one for my night time relaxation instruction.)
HERE'S the CHALLENGE:
Beginning April 20th, I have decided to incorporated either the 5 Minute Relaxation Video I found on the American Chronic Pain Association's website or the "15 Minute Musscle Relaxation Audio" into to my daily routine!! I am going to do this at least twice a day or ideally 3 times daily for one month and see if it makes a difference. I just have a feeling it will.
You can begin your month TODAY!
I challenge you sign up by putting your name and commitment in the comment space below! If you can only do it ONCE A DAY that is GREAT! Commit to that! Every little bit we do to help ourselves get better helps!
Then let's encourage one another to "Take a deep breath and RELAX!" I will post a scripture here each week for you to meditate on during your relaxation time if you would like.
Can't wait to start!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SCRIPTURES for meditation:

WEEK 1:
“Sing unto the Lord a new song, and His praise from the end of the earth, ye that go to the sea, and all that is therein: the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.”
Isaiah 42:10 KJV

"Sing to God a brand-new song, sing his praises all over the world! Let the sea and its fish give a round of applause, with all the far-flung islands joining in."
Isaiah 42:10 the MESSAGE

WEEK 2:

The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. Isaiah 58:11 (NKJV)

I will always show you where to go. I'll give you a full life in the emptiest of places - firm muscles, strong bones. You'll be like a well-watered garden, a gurgling spring that never runs dry. Isaiah 58:11 (the Message)

WEEK 3
"...for the Mighty One has done great things for me-- holy is his name." Luke 1:49 (NIV)

"For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name." Luke 1:49 (NKJV)

WEEK 4
"A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones." Proverbs 17:22 (NIV)

A better traslation of the HEBREW of this scripture would read: "A Joyful Heart causes good healing." That's the translation I am going to focus on today!!

That is a very good and soothing video. I found it tough to sit still for five minutes but I'm sure it will be good for me to learn how. I will join you and and try to do at least once a day for a month.

Hurray! Yes, I think it will take some practice. I found that having the verbal direction helps. I think that with practice it can become a more common way of living and easier to access within me. I really believe as I am asking the Lord to teach me to find His PEACE in this that He will show me how.

I hope there will be others who will join us. I'll post the first scripture MONDAY!

I too will join you and will commit to
doing this at the very least once a
day, and at the most three times
a day. It all depends on my schedule
each day as to how many times
I would be able to do it, but I will
commit to joining you!!

And by the way.....Very good idea!!

Well, Kimberly, this is just what I have been convicted of lately. I had been in a habit of doing Christian Relaxation cds by Rhonda Jones daily for quite some time and have drifted away from making the time to. I'd like to join in by comitting once per day to do this or my cd. I think I best go with an smaller promise as I already do silent worship 1/2 times per day, but this is more focused on relaxation so it should be great. For some reason my volume is NOT working on my computor right now to check it out. I will have to try to reboot again. Computor games........anyways thanks for starting this! Also, the scripture posted would be great.

Thanks so much,
Jan Lyn

What do you think of the Rhonda Jones series? I have some of her CD's and would love to get input from others about their thoughts. And it was great to chat a bit with you today! Nice to "see" you in person. :)

I take your challenge and I thank you for it! I will start with a commitment of once a day, but hope to do it more than that!
Looking forward to this.
With love,
Amy

I will take your challenge! Relaxing is definitely something I need to learn to do better. I have high blood pressure and a fast "resting" heartre forome reason (undergoing medical tests as I write this), so my Dr. will be thrilled to know I am taking time to relax. Do we add the video to our page too or is there going to be a general "meeting of the relaxation time"? Hope I am not asking stupid questions, lol.
your new friend in Christ,
Tammy

So glad you'll be joining us!

You are welcome to copy the relation stuff to your page. It's completely up to you. Everyone is doing this at there own time. The challenge is simply to relax.

Then maybe we can encourage each other on this page to KEEP GOING!

With your reminder, I thought I'd hurry up and relax a day early! LOL. (I just wanted to make sure I could get the sound/link right again for tomorrow.) The 5 minute one is just beautiful as I LOVE the nature photographs throughout. Thanks again, Kimberly...this is going to force me to take the time for breaks through my day!

I'm so glad you are "IN"! This should be a lot of fun and I hope we can really just have a good discussion on this page about how and what is working and what is NOT.
