Our Body Really Is His Temple!

Welcome to Our Body His Temple ! I am so humbled to be part of the Living Whole Family and asked to facilitate this group. My name is Jan Lyn and I am a child of God. Like many of you, I've been challenged by chronic illness since my late twenties and along the way experienced severe weight loss and mulitple food intolerances. It became imperative for me to focus on the best possible diet and nutrition for my well-being. I'm not a professional, but through one of my doctors, a mentor and my own studies, I found that eating organic whole foods increased my wellness. I pray this group can be an encouragement to you!

Each of us are the Temple of God and as such, the Spirit of God dwells in us. We are to present our bodies as a living sacrifice and we can choose to glorify the Lord with all things we do to or with our body. If we are suffering with Chronic Pain, this can be a new area for us in which we can glorify the Lord and be an example of how we treat the gifts He gives us.

This where I would like to see this group benefit each of us: food choices, accountability (if desired), education regarding foods that are especially healthy or detrimental for our bodies, and support for each other as we are challenged with living whole and making changes in our diets.

Please add any ideas or areas of interest that you have regarding this topic. Please start discussions and let's begin to treat our bodies as the temples that they are, or if you are already one who is doing a good job at this, please inspire others with your knowledge and experience in this area!

The Spirit brought this short thought to my mind about filling all of my Temple with more of him recently.

Empty me
pour me out
simplify my life,
that there would be
more room to fill
with more of You.

Let us glorify our Lord in all that we do!

1 1/2 cups milk
1 cup pumpkin puree
1 egg
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

I know, I know, it is a huge praise and a wonder still that I went away over night! I really thank God for that time together, especially to create some positive memories for our girls.
What a wonderful, thankful spirit you have Patti to be happy even just with a baked potato. I love them, but your attitude of saying it was "perfect" is such an example to me. I do admit that I would have had to tell them to bring me quite a few "perfect" potatoes in order to get enough calories! Bless you and good to hear your energy levels seem to be increasing.

I don't know how I missed your message until now Jan Lyn . For some odd reason I didn't check in here for a few days. I'm so glad that you had some good day trips and enjoyed your time with your family. So great that you did not have any major problems with reactions or foods. That is a big praise! I know if you are like me its no fun to have to make special orders at restaurants but you do what you have to do. One place we went recently - all I could find that was safe to eat was a baked potato but they brought me a very good one and it was perfect.
I am keeping up with the juicing and experimenting with different kinds of apples - There are some better tasting than others in juice. Some are better peeled first because of bitterness. I am getting faster and more efficient with the prep and clean-up so it doesn't seem like such a chore. I am starting to feel improvement in my energy levels little by little.

Hi Patti and Everyone! I'm back and can't say that vacation was too restful...lol...but it was a bit renewing. I did enjoy being with my family and having some change in routine. We took in a lot of beautiful sights without going any further than 2-3 hours away from our home and ended our time together by staying overnight in a motel with the girls out in Lancaster, Pa. It was a good bonding time with them and we had the opportunity to worship while we were out there which was a special blessing to us.

God answered my prayers in that I had no major reactions to foods or fragrances/allergens while away from home. I found most restaurants to be accomodating to my special needs, but tried to take along as much food as possible on our day trips. There's no traveling light anymore, but travel with organic/healthy foods prepared from home is not so expensive when compared to eating out constantly along the way. One thing I learned along the way is to order lunch or sandwhich platters rather than dinner platters and simply ask to omit the bread and the cost seemed to be cut by a third, I'd say. I ordered extra vegetables on the sides most every where we went and asked to hold all sauces on the side, which seems to be a request that restaurants are used to having. All in all, we had few difficulties.

Patti, I am thrilled to hear the results of your juicing! That's so encouraging to me, especially with sjogrens as my skin is dry from that. That alone, is such an incentive. I'll pray that it helps your energy levels and soon!

Hi Jan Lyn,
I hope you are doing well on your vacation days and are enjoying your time with your family. Also praying that you have all the energy you need each day.

This is my third week of juicing almost daily. So far I have really noticed a difference in my skin as it is much less dry. I have always suffered from dry skin and this juicing really helps. I wasn't really expecting that. Also my eyes and sinuses are better. I was hoping for more energy but that may take longer.

That sounds great, Patti. I have to be careful with any acidic fruits/foods as well. Just wondering if I could tolerate a little now that I am on motility meds as my acid tests came out negative, so we think my case of reflux is more non-acid, spasms and motility problems. I love juicing and will probably do a lot more in the fall when the apples start coming around more. I love apples, carrot and celery juice together too. I have to dilute everything, but orange sounds great--my children would love that and what a good idea to use the pulp in muffins!

Thanks on the vacation well wishes....a little bit concerned about keeping up with my gang and some expectations, but looking forward to it. ;)

Hi Jan Lyn,

I'm glad you are going to get some vacation. Day trips are great and I know you will have fun with your family. I'm looking forward to hearing about your adventures!

We were given a big grocery bag of small oranges and I wanted to find a way to use them. Straight orange juice is too acid for me so I thought of making some apple carrot juice and adding a little orange. It is delicious! Take two apples, two large carrots and one small orange and run them through the juicer. This makes about 16 oz. of the best tasting juice you can imagine. I save the leftover pulp for making muffins.

Hello to All....I just wanted to let you know that my husband and I will be taking vacation beginning on Monday through 9/15. We will be taking day trips and a few overnights not too far from home, but if I go quiet, that is why. I'll be back, probably with stories of how to eat with a special diet while away from home...lol.

Love and Peace to All,
Jan Lyn

Friends,

I thought I'd share this book idea that I borrowed from the new section of our library entitled The Little Green Book. It really was a colorful, delightful read and had so many ideas on keeping our world around us as safe and healthy as possible. The first chapter was on "Eating Friendly", which was basic but I thought the book was worth a look for any who are interested. It gave a lot of ideas for keeping a healthy environment in the home, involving all those natural cleansers and fragrance free ideas that are being discussed on LW as well. It all adds up and has a great effect on our total health along with what we put IN our bodies.
Enjoy,
Jan Lyn
