TALKING TESTIMONIES

I see this group as an opportunity to encourage each other by sharing how the Lord is working in our lives.... from how we first came to know Him as Saviour, how He has guided, provided, sustained us in our life's circumstances.

I CANNOT IMAGINE by RUTH HARMS CALKIN

God of my pensive heart
I cannot imagine
A day without the dawn
Or the sky without a star
Or a bird without a song
Or my life without You......

Please be patient with me folks..... This group is just like me....a work in progress.
I am hoping this will be a place to visit and share our stories of what the Lord has done and IS doing in our lives. Often when we hear people share testimonies we get the details prior to salvation and up to how they came to the Lord but you know, God's not through with us yet! We are all a work in progress and He works with us in the most surprising ways....it's true, His ways are not our ways.
Testimonies excite me.....my walk with the Lord also continues to excite, surprise and amaze me. Let's share how He is working in our lives and excite one another. Share and be encouraged!

-oooOooo-

I am SOOOOO excited about this new group and I hope you are too!

My prayer is that all we write and read here will show nothing of ourselves or be done out of pride in OUR achievements but might bring glory and honour to God
.

-oooOooo-

You will see that I have introduced some discussions which I hope will categorise our sharing of God's working in different areas of our lives. I suppose these headings have been born out of thoughts of my own experiences with the Lord - this is by no means a closed list - I would love to add more headings so do let me know what comes to YOUR mind. This is YOUR group for YOUR testimonies and we can encourage one another by showing how our God is the God of our everyday.
Please add your postings under the relevant headings and that will make it easier if we want to refer back to them - if you're like me you will want to read them again and again.
If your posting 'overlaps' two or even several categories just place it in the one you feel is most appropriate.

-oooOooo-

I'm not sure what is the easiest way to post your testimonies.....
I ended up typing mine up in a word document and then copy and paste to Talking Testimonies.... just meant I could stop and start again.

Six Martyrs from Scillium, Rome - 180 A.D.

The year: 180 years after Christ's crucifixion. The Place: A small province in northern Africa in the expansive Roman Emperor. The context: Commodus has succeeded his father, Marcus Aurelius, as emperor. Just as the emperors before him, Commodus commanded unyielding loyalty fromm all Romans. Those who defied the Roman Emperor usually met their death at the end of a sword or a pit of lions.

On a hot July day in Scillium, three men and three woman stood in chains in front of the province's governor. They were charged with not giving the Roman Emperor their full loyalty. This was their last opportunity to renounce their last opportunity to renounce their faith in Jesus Christ and pledge allegiance to Commodus. Renounce or die were their only Choices. "When you speak evil of our sacred rites, I will not listen," said Saturnius, the provincial governor. "Instead, swear by the genius of our emperor!"

Speratus, speaking for the group said, "I do not recongnize the empire of this world, but rather I serve that God, ' whom no man has seen or can see!"
Saturnius began to insult the six Christians. He called them mad. He yelled. He badgered them. "Cease to be of this persuasion," he demanded of them.

"Do you remain a Christian?" he asked.

" I am a Christian,"
Speratus replied. Others had already voiced their love of Christ.

"Wait 30 days and rethink," Santurnius begged the group.

Yet each insisted, " I am a Christian!"

The debate had finished. None budged. So Saturnius read the decree for their sentencing. " Speratus, Nartalus, Cittimus, Donata, Vestia, Secunda, and the rest have confessed to (be Christian). Since they obstinately persist, after an opportunity to return to Roman custom, it is decided to punish them with the sword." Speratus declared, "We thank GOd."

"Today we are mortyrs in heaven, thanks to God," Nartalus said

I also thank you for the IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL video, Joy. Your discernment in the timing of posting is amazing. I am not so much in a DIFFICULT time - although, as I think of how things are in my life right now, it may be more that it is well with my soul.

This was my mom's favorite worship song. She had a hard, very hard, life. Much loss and heartache. Much abuse and pain. I didn't know it was her favorite song until her funeral when they sang it from the choir. Oh, it was sooo beautiful. Then someone told of it being her favorite and some fo the reasons why it touched her heart so. The testimony in knowing this has been huge for me. My mom speaking to me the TRUTH of LIFE even after her death. She was an amazing woman who touched the lives of many because of her LOVE for her Father in spite of much difficulty in life. As a result of her testimony I have also come to KNOW it is WELL with my soul.

Though you slay me, I will follow you, Lord!

Joy,
Thanks for posting "It is Well With my Soul". It is powerful and was such a strong comfort to me today that I felt an urgency to post it on my other forum. The song brings me to tears every time I hear it. What an example...
TY for sharing it with us.

This testimony is pretty powerful because it brought a depth to the song
IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL by giving light to why this song was written and also why it is a testimony in itself. It truly is an annointed Holy Spirit filled song. God was with this MAN at the depth of His sorrow and as we sing it, I believe that same annointing will fall upon us in times of our trials and sorrows.

John 15:4-5 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart [...]
