Here is some of the things that you can find here in the Library:

1) Found a book that you loved, share your review of it. I have place categories in the discussion forum. Health, fiction, non-fiction, magazines, music and movie reviews. This way you can find everything a little easier by topic.

2) There is a used book section called ‘The Book Swap’ Let say you have a book, still good but want to bless another LW member with it. You can describe it, and swap another book they have you might like to read or just simply give it away as a blessing. Exchange information and there you have it.

3) Do you have a quote or a poem to share that you found inspirational? Whether it is from your own writing or someone else’s please share it in the comment wall below

4) Are you a writer and want to bounce ideas off of other writers? In the
discussion ‘Writer’s block’ is a place for a helpline of sorts for each other.

5) Would you like to have a mini book club? Why don’t you start a discussion with someone and read through it together. Comment with every chapter back and forth.

6) There is a discussion about online recourses for writers or readers. Share any that you found helpful to you and could be asset for someone else.

If you have any new ideas on discussion or topics, please feel free to start them. This is about community and the joy of writing or reading books. Besides that, i need all the help I can get. LOL and that's the written truth!

I recommend that you check with your local library abouyt a card. Even if you are unable to get to the library to pick up books, many now have the option of PDF downloads and the books can be read on your computer without even leaving your house. I understand that there are other library sites that other free downloads as well so if you know of any, please post them for others to try.

Miriam -
If you would like to start a book discussion just on a particular book or series of books like you suggested you were interested in sharing your thought on and let others join in, you are welcome to do so. I am doing that with the Man in White book as a separate discussion away from the fiction/nonfiction suggestion discussions. I find this easier to find if others what to hop in on the fun.

I'm eager to see what series you are talking about.

As we were discussing earlier. I like the idea of bringing up some thoughts about the books I have read to share with others. Not really book studies, but just to bounce thoughts and ideas off each other. If there are those out there who have read the books, then they can jump in, or it might give them an idea of a book to read. Do you think we should just use the fiction/ non fiction areas to do this or go about it in some other way. Waiting for your direction. I have some thoughts about a series I am finishing up so let me know what you think.

- Yet to read LOL

I'm not a fast reader or my other challenge is i start a book, then get excited about another book, read that one. FOrget about the last book i was in the middle of and before you know it i have 20 books unfinished on the shelf. FOCUS Joy FOCUS LOL I'm tring to learn how to be a finisher.

Hello Kimberly, I just saw your inquery now:

"So, I am kind of wondering if Holy Silence could be read one bite at a time like a devotional by me along with CELEBRATION? Sounds like maybe so, huh?!"

Yes, I believe so as it is a book you can read a little at a time and not rush through at all. I think it would be a good time and I'd mail you mine, but my mother just borrowed it last week! You may be able to find it used on Amazon as I did with 'Minding the Light' over this past weekend.

I know we have a lot more reading going on out there as I have discussed books with others. I am sending out a plea to include the books you are reading in the library. Being an avid reader I am always looking for good recommendations from others and this is one trust worthy way we can get them. So if you haven't yet shared a book with us, please jump in and do so.

Thanks JanLyn and John. So, I am kind of wondering if Holy Silence could be read one bite at a time like a devotional by me along with CELEBRATION? Sounds like maybe so, huh?!

I'm giggling Miriam. I often tease, "When I grow up I want to be like Brother Lawrence!". It is a wonderful little read, Miriam. Dallas Willard actually is mentioned by Foster as being one of his mentors in COD. Each of these books you have mentioned will bless you in every way. Andrew Murray's School of Prayer was the least of my favorites of these you mentioned, but all should be great additions to our study.

Each time I read Celebrate I experience another understanding of these truths set forth. I think it is a lifetime of experiencing God that those of us who answer the "DEEP unto deep" call of the Holy Spirit are truly desiring. And just as we talked about today, as Christians we have this THIRST for God that can not be quenched by any outside force - an undercurrent that is always calling to us to come immerse ourselves ~ experiencing ourselves in the Living Waters.

Completely enjoyed our discussion today as well. Can't wait til next week.

I am looking at several supplemental books that are on the same topics as our study to give me more understanding of the issues. I must admit I have never received and teaching/guidance on the Spiritual Disciplines and I am like a sponge soaking up information. Including Holy Silence, I have read or plan to read soon "Practicing the Presence of God " by brother Lawrence; The Spirit of the Disciplines by Dallas Willard; Meditation by Jim Downing; and With Christ in the School of Prayer by Andrew Murray. I hope they will add to my personal study of the Spiritual Disciplines and I can share with you my insights. I find myself at a serious place of study in my life right now. I am taking the time to study more and draw closer to God. Each book I read seems to connect me to a new one. I really enjoy our discussions.
Thanks,
Miriam

Yes, Kimberly, It is Holy Silence by J Brent Bill. From my perspective, I feel it was an excellent book for me. His writing is down to earth, simple yet deep, and he kind of takes your hand and leads you by example to experience unprogrammed holy time with our Lord. He is a Christian Quaker and so you will have a bit of that to wade through, but he speaks to all Christians, which I prefer. He is in our QQ group and has written 2 other books, but the titles escape me right now. John would know, as he just purchased all 3 of them. This is a book, however, that you can read one little part in a few minutes--say 5 or 10 and then put it down and experience the presence of the Lord. So, perhaps think of it as a sort of devotional if you will......??? Very introspective/reflective experience of a read.
Hope that helps!
Jan Lyn

John 15:4-5 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart [...]
