READING: Esther 5:1- 6:13
Read: Esther 5:1-14
Ahhhh! The first three verses on this chapter read like a
fairytale! Can't you just imagine the queen standing in the hall
with her robes and the king glancing up and having his breath taken
away by her beauty? Then the king holding out his gold septer.
1. Esther "put on her royal robes" to go see the her king. This one
is for you married ladies: (single ladies - You might want to take
notes for the future ;) When was the last time you put one your
"royal robes" for your husband? When was the last time when for no
other reason then he was coming home from work that you fixed your
hair, maybe put on a dab of make-up, dressed specifically for
him?
The truth is it is not easy for us to do that somedays (weeks), is
it? It takes all we've got to simply get out of bed sometimes, and
sometimes getting dressed is near impossible. But now and then,
making the extra effort to get all "dolled" up for our husbands
could be a way of saying, "THANK YOU for all the extra you do."
NOTE: It seems Esther knew that timing was paramount in
getting what she wanted from the king. She seemed to know what to
say and when. She knew how to ask for "favor".
2. Does timing the question "just right" make the difference in the
outcome for something you are asking for with God?
3. Have you ever known that God was telling you to WAIT for the
"right time" to act on something you have asked Him about?
4. How well do you do at the "WAITING GAME"?
3. Does the Father seemingly move too slowly for your likeing?
6. What has been the outcome of acting or speaking too quickly?
7. What kinds of things could you do to PRACTICE waiting?
8. How has living chronic illness and pain helped you "move" a
little slower, or has it?
NOTE: Discontentment can make for a miserable life both for the
discontented one and for all those around them. Haman seemingly was
getting what he wanted, favor and the blessing of the king and
queen (we know better, but he didn't). Yet not having Mordecai's
"respect" ruined the blessing for Haman.
9. Can you think of a New Testament scripture that references being
CONTENT in
this life? Put it to memory this week - in
both your heart and mind. "As a man is in his heart, so is he."
Read: Esther 6:1-13
Hmmm... maybe some GOOD does come out of those sleepless nights
that we have more often than we like to admit? I mean, check out
the king! WHAT ARE YOU DOING DURING
YOUR SLEEPLESS
NIGHTS?
1. All through this chapter are signs that although not mentioned
GOD is at work orchestrating the events. List the verses where you
see this evident and then what it is in the verse that makes you
think, "This it is GOD!"
2. Name a time in the last week when you you had an "AHA moment"
and saw God at work in YOUR situation.
3. How could the scripture on "contentment" you have been
memorizing help you to "see" God at work in your life more
often?
http://Bible.org is a great website
to help you as you study the bible. I sent you a note earlier this
week and suggested that I might use Bible.org in our lesson this
week to take a "test drive". I have changed my mind. I think I
sense the Holy Spirit saying, "WAIT." Maybe this is my opportunity
to practice "TIMING" and "PATIENCE" ~wink~ Bible.org has some audio
of a teaching on ESTHER taught by a lady named, Susie Hawkins. I
have heard her teach on another series and she is great! I am
waiting to listen to these until after we are finished with OUR
study of the book of ESTHER.
