About You:
I am a single mother of three small children and have been dealing with chronic pain for a couple of years. After a diagnosis of Chondromalacia in both of my knees I was put on a pain management routine to help with daily activities. I was told I will eventually require knee replacements in both of my knees as the progression of the condition is extensive. I had been waiting tables with a minimum amount of rest on my knees during the day. This progressive pain along with daycare issues for my children forced me to stop working completely. Daily tasks became more difficult and physical activities with my children became far less frequent. Some days were great and most days were hard. Trying to explain to children that "mommy hurts" and "cant do it right now", is hard and depressing. While dealing with my constant knee pain I began experiencing pain all over. Places I never recall experiencing pain before. Finally after several months I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. My kids are great in that they know mommy hurts a lot but its harder on me still because I cant run with my kids or enjoy long walks like I used to. We have amazing waterfalls behind our house. Its about a 20 minute walk through woods and some steep inclines which are extremely painful. I cant take the kids there often as I wish, because of the pain during and the extreme pain after the walk. BUT, I try and stay positive every day knowing that I am blessed just to wake every day and have three wonderful children that make every day worth it. If it meant hurting a million times worse, than I would, just to continue to see my beautiful, happy children enjoying life and smiling every day. They are what I live for. God has blessed me with them and they are the reason I get out of bed every morning. Without them, I am nothing!
What chronic condition(s) are you diagnosed with?
Chondromalcia and Fibromyalgia

Welcome Jessica!

I am happy and priviledged to consider your mother a friend; I hope to get a chance to become yours, too! As a mom to 5 children, I can completely understand the unique challenges of raising children while suffering from the effects of fibromyalgia. While my issues now are mostly caused by adhesive arachnoiditis (a rare spinal cord disease), I have suffered from chrondimalcia since aged 12. Back then they did an operation which required a full-leg cast for 5 months and many more months of therapy.
The pain and limitations on my 12 year old life was enough that I endured the operations, and had mixed success, with one knee fixed but not the other. I know that there are some better options now, but the few years that I suffered introduced me to a new understanding of pain.
I hope that your doctor can find some options for relief. If I can offer any advice it is this: Never give up!
Our Father is allowing this circumstance to enter your life for a reason; when you realize that, isn't it easier to bear suffering and pain? Jesus knows our pain and every suffering will be used by our Father for his own plans; and He has promised that His plans for us is to prosper!

For I know what I have planned for you,’ says the Lord. ‘I have plans to prosper you, not to harm you. I have plans to give you20 a future filled with hope. 29:12 When you call out to me and come to me in prayer, I will hear your prayers.29:13 When you seek me in prayer and worship, you will find me available to you. If you seek me with all your heart and soul, 29:14 I will make myself available to you,’25 says the Lord. Jeremiah 29:10-25

I hope to get a chance to chat with you soon!

(((((hugs)))))

Jessica,
Oh my 9 year old and yours would probably really get along! Corynn is beginning to cook and bake every week now. She fills our glass cake keeper with muffins and snack bars and probably is the most sympathetic as well, though she is my youngest. How sweet your daughter tries to get the others to let you sleep. Just love it and how she pronounces fibro. Children are definately a blessing--though tiring ones.
Take good care Jessica and have a great week in Christ.

Welcome to Living Whole Jessica!

I'm so pleased to meet you and I must tell you that I read your introduction with riviting interest. It is very much my story as well when younger. I was first diagnosed with chondramalacia of the knees, which came on acutely over one night--I awoke in the morning with it. And it was severe. As the months went by I developed fibromyalgia. I've had that for 17 years now. What I wanted to share was that I want to encourage you a bit. I know it is so hard with little ones, but God is faithful and some how my children grew up just learning to understand that they had to sit up by momma and that I couldn't lift them as much. We'd find other ways to snuggle and the pain through the years did wax and wane. I had several periods of time that felt much like a remission, so I am praying that for you! I have a few more issues now to content with, but I'm not alone as God journies with me and these members here are so encouraging. I hope that you enjoy it here as well. I am looking forward to getting to know you!

In Friendship and Peace,
Jan Lyn

Welcome Precious Child of the King, Jessica! I am sooo very glad you have to join our little community! There are some of the most kind and thoughtful and courageous women I have ever met here. They bring just the right words of encouragement when I most need them and I am so very grateful! I hope you will join right in and make yourself at home.

Your mama is one of my favorite people in the whole wide world! I am sure she'll fill you in on all you need to know and can answer any questions you might have about LW, but if I can help you out in any way you just shoot me a note and I'll do what I can!! I look forward to getting to know you!!
