Hi Deni,
Just stopping by because I'm thinking of you this evening. I know you hit a rough time with your health and I pray that you are managing, getting some healing rest and feeling the love of our Comfortor. Also lifting up your precious ones and your homeschooling. I know how hard it gets to keep going each day with schooling when you are feeling bad yourself. May God continue to make his presence and help known to you and let us all know how you are doing when you get a chance.
In Friendship and Love,
Jan Lyn

Hi Deni,
Stopping by after reading your comment to me on your blog. This is our 9th year of homeschooling. I have 3 kiddos, but the oldest is now in his first year of college-commuting from home. My daughters, who I am schooling are grades 4 and 8 and have not ever been to formal school. I THRIVED on this lifestyle, which was to just be a one year experiment to help my son get through some health issues. We loved it so much, we just kept on going! At this point, it is getting really rough due to my sjogren's autoimmune deal. I have voice pain and eye problems, but I just keep pressing on and trying to view all as a challege. I continue to "tweak" HOW we are learning all the time to accomodate our situation. I guess that has been key for me.
Lately, I've developed lists of independant work or more fun activities that I know the girls can do themselves. I alternate tutoring them in a subject and allowing them one of these...spreading out my time needed. We've been using a lot of books on tape/cd and also Eyewitness Science videos to supplement and when I'm having a bad day at least they have gotten something. My girls being a bit older now, it is easier in some ways. There's things that just HAVE to get accomplished, but also things like hands on science projects that they love to do and do themselves now and notebook them.
Curious.......what age are your grandchildren? Are you using a particular curriculum? We are pretty eclectic here. We began very literature based, more Charlotte Mason-like approach combined with Classical. I like CM's short lessons for younger children and giving them lots of time to explore and learn from nature and good boooks. I've really been in prayer over our schooling this year. I'm not sure I can keep it up through the upper years and I'm trying to give all over to God for the future. It's really hard though, Deni, as my daughters truly want to remain at home and together. I actually stuck them in a online Virtual history class this past month because I plain need help. So, as I said, for us it has been all about being flexible, changing our ways every year and perservering. Would love to hear about how you are doing things. I appreciate your blogging, as so many topics are so timely for me, they encourage me to keep trying!
Have a great week.

So glad to see you are finding a bit of time to share your morning devotionals with us again!! Just wanted to let you know I throughly enjoy them. They always give me pause to reflect, deeply. I can never find (which is unuasal for me, lol) the words to tell you how they impact me. Often times it is something I am learning or have JUST finished thinking about.... it NEVER fails to amaze me how God reinforces what He is trying to teach us thru others!!
Love You to peices and Thankful Gid lead you here!!
Was thinking of you and hope you are doing well. I have missed your blog posts but I hope it is because you are busy with another project and not because of illness. Praying that all is going will for you and yours.
I miss you! WE miss you! Your name has come up in chat and we are hoping your are well in you physical body as well as simply pleasantly occupied with those things that bring your spirit and soul much JOY! I have to tell you that we miss your daily devotionals as they let us know how you were doing. You are so transparent in your writings that it allowed for us to know a bit of what was going on with YOU when reading them. So....we miss YOU!
I am sorry I haven't gotten back with you about the book we discussed doing together and the accountability we had hoped to share. To be honest with you, I began CELEBRATION of Discipline and God really spoke to me the "what's behind all that procrastination and easy distractibility" and He has directed me clearly a different way of attacking it. I don't believe He has said anything about one way being right and another way being wrong - just that I needed to take the road that He was laying out before me. And so I began heading down that path and just forgot I was to be looking at the something you and I had talked about. =) I hope you will forgive me. And I hope you are doing well with your self discovery through that book. It sounded like just what you were needing when we discussed that day a while back.
Donald has begun back to school, so I have a couple nights a week to get caught up on some things I have wanted and needed to do around here. I hope to see you in chat one morning or maybe evening!
Sending Blessings of HOPE and PEACE your way!!
Kimberly
